Lac La Biche County is an area blessed with natural beauty in the form of an abundance of lakes, old growth forests, wildlife and excellent outdoor recreational opportunities.  It is a community steeped in cultural diversity and history with European settlement dating back over 200 years to the fur trade.  Main industries include Oil and Gas, forestry, tourism and agriculture.  Further, the Hamlet of Lac La Biche serves as a business hub to the area and it is a growing and thriving community.  In May, 2002, the former Village of Plamondon was dissolved and is another important community in Lac La Biche County.  Lac La Biche County has seen an unprecedented period of growth in recent years and this trend is expected to continue well into the foreseeable future.

Lac La Biche County is located in the scenic Lac La Biche area of northeast Alberta.  With a mix of oil and gas, forestry, and agriculture as well as an abundance of recreational and cultural amenities, the region provides opportunities and a lot of fun for the whole family in an area rich in cultural diversity and heritage.

There have been  significant improvements to the  950 km local road and the  247 km secondary highway transportation network throughout Lac La Biche County.  Secondary Highway 881 between Lac La Biche and Fort McMurray  continues to be  paved, thereby providing a second  major transportation route for industry and tourism

For the outdoor adventurist, Lakeland Provincial Park and Lakeland Recreational Area provide everything from serviced campgrounds to a rugged wilderness experience in an area abounding with birds and wildlife.

Lac La Biche County contains 152 lakes, and 70% of Albert’s best white sand beaches, within a 40 minute drive from the Town of Lac La Biche, many of which have campgrounds or cabin facilities for your stay.  Sir Winston Churchill Park, located 11 kilometers east of Lac La Biche, is Alberta’s only island park - joined to the mainland by a 2 kilometer causeway.  The island offers camping, beaches, walking trails, and is also a birdwatchers delight with over 200 species of birds.

The  Lac La Biche Mission, established in 1853, is located 11 kilometers northwest from Lac La Biche and is a National Historic Site and Provincial Historic Resource.  The Mission is the site of Alberta’s first recorded sawmill, printing press, and commercially grown wheat operation.  Restoration to the Mission site is ongoing.

Lac La Biche County is host to a diverse range of industrial, commercial, and recreational opportunities.  And, it’s a great place to visit!
